I like sleeping with the window open. I sleep with a my ceiling fan, as well as another fan going... but there is something about the smell of fresh air at night. When I wake up in the middle of the night and I just take in a big whiff, it brings an automatic smile to my face, and a calming feeling.
When you think of relaxing what do you think of? A nice stroll in your neighborhood? Cooking a big meal? Yoga? Window shopping (or in my case actual shopping)? Whatever makes you feel 'relaxed' you should find the time to do it everyday.
My kind of relaxing? Honestly, if it is time for me to clear my mind... I turn to yoga. I literally can lay there in a pose and feel the negative energy release from my body, and feel the positive energy recharge me. It is a crazy feeling, but I can literally get lost in a pose. I can clear my entire mind of everything going on around me, and for that split second it is just me and the atmosphere.
One of the first posts for my fitness page is going to be the Sun Salutation routine. It is the most basic yoga routine, usually for warming up or cooling down during a yoga sequence. But once again, very peaceful.
Today's post is going to be a little short. I just wanted to get a little bit out.
Lets post some daily motivation...
Have you made someone smile today? And I don't mean one of those little fake smiles that wear in a picture that you really don't want to be in... I mean a genuinely happy smile. Well.. Whether you are reading this in the morning or in the evening... there is still time to make someone smile. The simplest gesture of love can change everything.
Shoot someone a good night text, saying that you hope they had a wonderful day and sleep well so they can tackle whatever is thrown at them tomorrow!
Write someone a letter and mail it to them. Let's be honest.. who doesn't like to get mail?
Call your grandma up and tell her that you love her. Okay.. If I could do this every single day- I would. Please take advantage of this if you can.
Let your dog have all the bed tonight. If you are anything like me.... You usually have no bed to sleep on because your 12 year old english black lab is laying horizontally across the whole bed... AND the room that you do have... Your pug has taken over! Tonight- let them have the bed. You may not be able to see their smile.. but I promise that any small gesture to a dog is worth it.
Hold the door open for people. It is hard for me to hold the door open for people because the common courtesy of saying thank you is nonexistent anymore. BUT- who cares if you don't get a thank you... Why? Because you did the right thing. You were helping another person out. And guess what... That should be enough for YOU TO SMILE. Because making yourself smile is just as important as making others smile!
Moral of this post.....
Making others smile is great. It definitely brings out good emotions in yourself, and sometimes can even boost your confidence. But making yourself smile is just as important. Make sure that you don't spend all your time trying to better others, that you save some time to better yourself. Making yourself happy is essential to a happy, positive life. Today, don't only make others happy but make yourself happy as well.
You are worth it too.
