For the record- I turn 21 on WEDNESDAY. I am super excited, I feel like this is definitely a new chapter in my life. Excited to see what is ahead :) I have a lot to look forward to with the days to come.
Also- This post is being posted a little later than I would have hoped BUT it is up. My dad and I got a lot of stuff done today and I had to work, so it was a very productive day.
This post came to my mind because I have come to a realization that good and bad things happen and sometimes, they happen at the same time. Negative obstacles can bring positive opportunities with the right attitude. Here is how I achieve happiness, daily:
1. I understand that change is inevitable.
It is going to happen, good change and bad change. But no matter what type of change it is, the change is always worth it. You can’t move forward with life if there are no changes. You physical appearance changes with time as well as your mental state. Some people will change with you and some will change without you. And some may also never change…but that just means that they will not move forward. And that is okay, they will when they are ready.
2. I SMILE.
I smile through everything. It is tough sometimes, but laughter is the best medicine for just about anything issue. I have always been a fan of fake it ‘till you make it. One thing that I always do at work when I am having a bad day, is get on register. Some days, register is unbearable but on other days it is worth it. I can get my mind off of what ever is bothering me and I can put my energy into making someone else happy. That is always a sure fire way to brighten up my own day.
3. I think positive thoughts.
There really isn’t anything to say about this. Sometimes it isn’t easy and it actually takes some training and discipline, but it is worth it.
4. I let my mind wander not wonder.
Anyone who knows me knows that there is like 50 things going on in my head at once. My mom always gets frustrated with me because my mind is elsewhere when she is trying to tell me something. But, my mind is wandering… there is a vast amount of places that my mind could be wandering to. BUT when I start to feel my mind wonder, sometimes I have to speak out loud to myself and say, “NO, this is not how things are, and I will not believe what you say.” You are either your best friend or your worst enemy; I like to choose best friend because sometimes the only person you can truly count on is YOURSELF.
5. I am not afraid to be alone.
Actually, I am completely content with being alone. Sometimes I even enjoy it more than being with others. I can entertain myself, I can make myself happy, and I can trust myself…what else do you truly need? I have adjusted my thinking and I am now able to love myself despite my flaws, therefore I am able to be ALONE. I truly think that is the number one quality every woman should fight to have. Yes, you do need love and friends in your life, but it all means nothing if you can’t learn to love yourself and be your own friend first. I know who I am and I know what I need to do in life to get where I want to be. I am confident in myself.
6. I choose whom to bring into my life, but I can also choose whom to leave behind.
You are in charge of your life, no one else. There is nothing in this world more powerful than a strong woman who stands up for herself and her beliefs. If you are being weighed down, you have the power to let go of that weight. I understand giving everything your all, trying harder, and giving second chances, but remember in the end it is YOUR life and you have the power to stop what doesn’t propel you forward.
Nothing is perfect and sometimes we have to put extra effort into things if we want them to turn out okay. But in the end, the one person that you can always rely on is yourself. YOU are the best project that you will ever work on. Make sure that you put the most effort into bettering yourself, everything works out in the end :)
