I have been waiting so long now for you to come along and words cannot express how excited I am to know you are here. I have been begging your mother to get pregnant for years now. Let me tell you a little bit about your amazing mother.
She is strong. She got every last bit of your grandmother’s hard headed, driven personality. She is 100% dedicated to your father; her first and only true love. The amount of independence, strength, love, and courage that this woman has is incredible. I know that if I was ever in your mother’s position, packing up her house and starting a journey to a new location every few years, I would be able to do it. Being a wife to a man in the military is not easy, but your mother makes it look easy. She is 100% dedicated to your father and she loves the lifestyle, she is truly a role model to so many and I am so proud she is my older sister.
When your mother finished nursing school, she picked up her things and moved down to Norfolk to be with your dad, and I bet she will tell you it was one of the best decisions she ever made. I missed her so much. You mother is a home-body (and you will certainly learn that), but I had so much respect for her because she put her anxiety to the side to support your father. Do you know what this has taught me? When you know, you know. Please do me a favor and never lose sight of yourself for someone else… it is okay to make compromises and make changes to your plans for someone else, but only if you know it is right. Now I bet you’re wondering “how will I know if it is right?” Well, you just will.
I hope that you get your father’s sense of humor. Your dad is truly one of my favorite men in this world; I have so much respect for him. He treats your mother with respect, and that is truly enough for me. Anytime that I have ever needed your dad, he has been there for me with open arms. Here is a story for you…
The night that we found out that your Great Grandma was very, very ill; your dad drove your mom up from Norfolk (3 hours from away) to Manassas. This might not seem like a big deal, but it was very late at night, they didn’t get in until after 1AM. Your dad was in ROTC at ODU and he had a commitment the following morning that he could not skip out on. Your father drove your mother up here so she could be with the family, and settled with getting about 3 hours of sleep because he had to drive back down to Norfolk that night… Just to drive back up within the next day to be with my family. If that isn’t sacrificing for the one you love, I don’t know what is.
I want you to always follow your heart, baby. You have an amazing support system being you and we will always support you in whatever you may want to pursue. Please never forget that. If something seems challenging to you, I want you to face it head on. There is no challenge that is bigger than your determination, and I will be behind you 100% of the way to remind you that. I know I speak for your grandma and grandpa when I say all of this, too. Watch out for Grandma-- she is going to turn you into her (not that it is a bad thing, she is just... uh... different?). She is the most amazing woman on this planet though, I can promise you that. Grandpa is going to love you more than anything in the world. He is such an amazing man and I cannot wait for you to see that for yourself.
If I could have one wish granted to me, it would be to be able to spend every day with you… But I know that is unrealistic. Your family could end up anywhere at anytime, your life will be filled with adventures. Just please know that even when I am not physically with you, I am always with you. You are the most important person in the world to me and you always will be, I promise you that.
I already know that you are the most perfect mixture of your mother and father; therefore you will make everyone fall in love with you. I wish that you always stay kind when it is hard, optimistic when you feel down, and you always push yourself to be there for others. Nothing in this world could possibly make me happier than you can and I will never be able to express that enough.
You are always going to be my little baby and I cannot wait until I can hold you in my arms. I can already feel the heartwarming feeling that you are going to give me, the tears that will fill me eyes, and the joy that will overwhelming take over my entire body, I also already know that your first word will be ‘auntie’ ;) Remember that whenever mom and dad say no, auntie will say yes. Remember that whenever you need ANYTHING, auntie will always be right there for you. I will get you the best wardrobe (filled with lovely auntie gear) and I promise to show you my love for you everyday.
You are perfect. I have never met a perfect human being in this world, but I know you will change that. I love you more than anything.
Your Auntie,
Kylie
