Happy April Fool’s Day everyone! So yesterday was an EXCITING day! I got up and went to the gym at 6 with Rach, then went to church! It was a quick 30 minute mass but it was really nice. I spoke to Grandma a little bit and it felt nice to just sit there and listen to someone speak like that. I am excited to say that I will be attending church on Easter Sunday with my Grandpa as well! It feels good.
So anyways, I am excited for this post! I am going to take some quotes and put them into a perspective of how I use them in my everyday life. I love quotes, and I don’t just read them, I try to live them. If anyone ever comes to me for advice, they know that I will probably spit out 5 or 6 quotes in a row. They are like second nature to me. They have helped me through so much, and that is what I want to show here, so hopefully when in need, they can help you as well.
The same boiling water that softens a potato hardens an egg. It’s about what you’re made of, not the circumstances.
I had actually never heard of this quote until I started writing this post. The best thing that I can relate it to in my life is (SHOCKER) grandma. When we lose someone, we crumble. It is a normal fact of life, losing someone is hard. But when I think about it, I think that losing grandma has made me a stronger person. Her death has opened my eyes so much to thing that I had never noticed before. Yes, I miss her everyday, but I use that to fuel me in the right direction.
Your mind is a powerful thing. When you fill it with positive thoughts, your life will start to change.
Sometimes my boss is in a bad mood. I have been there for 6 years now, so when something goes wrong, I am usually to blame. Not because everything is my fault, but because I am experienced enough to not let these things to happen. So with saying that, sometimes I get really anxious about going to work, because I never know what to expect anymore! But when I look at it in a good light, it helps me have a more positive attitude going into the situation, which makes me act more positive. I think that when I go into things with a better attitude my entire demeanor changes and it lightens the mood around me. I try to do that more often than not because sometimes the energy of others depends on your energy.
The secret of being happy is accepting where you are in life and making the most out of every day.
I get asked the question “so what do you do in your free time?” a lot. And it’s weird because I don’t really have ‘free’ time… I guess in my free time I do homework? But to be completely honest I go to school, work, go to the gym, hang out with Rachel (we are basically sisters in that sense), and occasionally others. It is rare if I sleep in past 7 o’clock nowadays. I am either up going to school, or I am up hitting the gym before work. But that is OKAY with me. I am very happy with where I am in life. I have a routine. I like my routine and sometimes I like breaking my routine. I am a passionate girl so when I put my heart into something, I put my entire heart into it. I give everything at the gym, school, and work. I would rather be limited to the few things I do in life, and do them very well, rather than do a bunch of things, averagely.
You create your own opportunities.
Why do we have to wait for other people to make all of the moves? If you want the story to end a certain way, sometimes you need to take the first step. A few weeks ago I choked up the courage to talk to someone new. Sometimes we get too nervous or scared to do something and we chicken out. Then comes REGRET. Well I have decided that I am not letting regret rule my life any longer. If I want to do something and it is going to make me happy, you can bet I’m going to do it. I am the only controller of my life and I am going to do what it takes to create my own happiness. Because in reality, no one else can make me as happy as I can make myself. To fall in love with yourself is the most beautiful kind of love.
Instead of wishing you were someone else, be proud of who you are. You never know who is looking at you wishing they were you.
THIS. I love this. Everyone at some point in life feels this way. We have all gone through phases where we are not entirely happy with ourselves. Sometimes I get this feeling but one day I found this quote to ring true. So I was babysitting and before Jensy left she told me that in school Jillian was asked what she wanted to be when she grew up… Jillian said an ice cream scooper. The BIGGEST smile came across my face. I have been working the same job since I was 15 years old and it has not gone unnoticed. It might just be an ice cream shop, but I am good at what I do. I am good with customers and I know how to make a damn good sundae. I am proud of who I am and what I do, and I am proud to say that I have inspired my little 7 year old.
Find joy in the ordinary.
This is probably one of the best quotes that describe me. I find joy in the littlest things. I enjoy when Rachel stuffs random notes in my purse, when my cousins randomly text me asking about my day, when people play with my hair, lying with my dogs, and things like cuddling. I don’t need to do bit extravagant things to be happy. All I need is someone I enjoy spending time with, nice weather, and sunshine and I got myself a good day! When you learn to find happiness in everyday activities, everyday will be filled with joy.
If it’s still in your mind, it’s worth taking the risk.
This kind of takes me back to creating your own opportunities. If you can’t stop thinking about something, do it. Take the risk. What is the worst thing that happens? It fails? … But what if it doesn’t?
I could go on for dayssss with all the quotes that I know and love, it was hard to just pick 7! But I truly believe if you concentrate on these 7 quotes, you will start to live a more enjoyable life.
